About Us

The Door of Peace Organization (DOP) is an independent humanitarian and peacebuilding NGO dedicated to supporting people displaced by conflict, persecution, and natural disasters. Since our founding in the wake of 9/11, we have worked across Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Ukraine—focusing on Education, Health, and Peace as pillars of recovery.

We stand alongside vulnerable communities in FATA, Baluchistan, and conflict-affected regions of Afghanistan, advocating for their rights and dignity while providing essential relief, development programs, and sustainable solutions. Through partnerships with local, national, and international organizations, we empower displaced people to rebuild their lives and foster lasting peace.

Driven by compassion and resilience, many of our team members were once displaced themselves, bringing unique understanding and commitment to our mission. Today, as millions worldwide are forced to flee, DOP remains steadfast in offering hope, protection, and pathways to a better future.

FATA Before 9/11

Before 9/11, the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) were known for their rich tribal traditions, hospitality, and strong community values. Life revolved around agriculture, trade, and cross-border movement with Afghanistan, while the Jirga system played a central role in maintaining law and order. Although underdeveloped and lacking in modern infrastructure, FATA remained a culturally vibrant region where tribal autonomy and social cohesion shaped daily life.

FATA After 9/11

After 9/11, FATA became a frontline in the global war on terror, facing unprecedented challenges of militancy, displacement, and conflict. The region witnessed military operations, loss of livelihoods, and destruction of schools and infrastructure, leaving communities vulnerable and children deprived of education. Women and youth, in particular, bore the brunt of instability, while entire families were forced to migrate for safety. The aftermath of 9/11 drastically transformed FATA, shifting it from a land of traditions to a conflict zone struggling for peace and development.

Balochistan

Balochistan, despite being Pakistan’s largest province with vast natural resources, has long faced poverty, limited access to education, and inadequate healthcare. Many communities remain marginalized, with women and children particularly vulnerable in conflict-affected areas. Our NGO works to address these challenges by promoting peace, providing educational opportunities, supporting healthcare access, and empowering local communities to build a more inclusive and hopeful future.
